When creating your landing page, the goal is to get as many folks to sign up for your email list and download your freebie as possible, right? Right! 🎉

One common mistake business owners make is they don’t include the key information above the fold on their landing pages, which actually hurts their conversion rates in a big way.

Before we dive into what “above the fold” means and why it is important for your freebie landing page, check out my post about the key elements to your freebie landing page here. I’ll grab a glass of my favorite red and wait for you to come back 🍷

After you’ve had a chance to check out that blog post, let’s dive right on in.

Here’s a short video explaining what it looks like to design your opt-ins with the most important pieces above the fold.

ICYMI or don’t have time to check out my other article I mentioned, here’s a quick recap:

Your freebie landing page should have a photo of you or your freebie, your freebie’s title, a quick and simple description of the freebie, and a place for them to opt-in to your email list.

Keep everything above the fold!

Now to the good stuff! It’s imperative that all of your key information on your landing page is above the fold. This means that your viewer does not have to scroll at all to see all of your key information.

You are welcome to add more to your landing page but those key elements listed above should be above the fold. When we put a super long description of our freebie and require our viewers to scroll to find where they can sign up and download the freebie, you’re going to lose potential subscribers. If you want to add more images or a longer description, do that below those key elements!

This is the most common area for improvement on freebie landing pages that I see and it is a simple fix that can help boost your conversion rate. As business owners, we often think we have to provide all the detailed information so folks know how much value our products or services hold, but remember – this is free content! They’re already sold and ready to sign up – save the long and detailed stuff for your sales pages 😉
