Creating the perfect audience for your Facebook Ads is vital to the success of your ads. You need to know exactly who your ideal client/customer is. “Ideal client” is a big buzzword these days, so let me break it down into what this means for Facebook Ads.
Facebook offers SO many different options and it’s important to put together the pieces of exactly who these people are. If you’re putting together an ad, simply targeting people in your area and adding in an interest or two isn’t going to cut it. It may be an okay audience to use, but to drive down on shouting out to the masses and hoping your ad lands in the lap of who you need to reach, you’re going to need to really drill into who this ideal customer/client is.
I’ve put together a checklist and video tutorial of how to craft the PERFECT cold audience for your Facebook Ads, so you can stop shouting into the masses and instead, reach out and grab the attention of someone who is actually interested in your product.

Now, let’s dive into some of the Facebook targeting options available and how to know which to focus on. The first thing you need to think about is who are you trying to reach with your ads. I’m talking about the nitty gritty details of who these people are.
One of the first options Facebook prompts you to enter are about location, age, and gender.
- What city/state/country do they live in?
- How old are they?
Next, you can focus on Demographics, Interests, and Behaviors.
Some things you’ll want to consider about your audience are:
- Are they married? Divorced?
- Are they parents?
- Where do they shop?
- What hobbies do they have?
- Do they have a college degree?
If you click the drop down arrows for Demographics, Interests, and Behaviors, Facebook will show you a bunch of demographics and interests you can choose from!
There you have it. There are hundreds of options that Facebook offers for targeting and here are several that are important to include in your targeting.
